About

A Georgetown timber exporter, ten years on

Southern Timber Exports has spent a decade getting Guyanese hardwood to buyers in the United States, with the paperwork done right.

Who we are

Small team, whole chain

We're based in Georgetown and work with GFC-licensed concessions in Guyana's interior. Timber comes to our yard, where we grade it, cut squares and lumber, seal the ends and paint on the sizes. Then we load the containers ourselves.

Most of our buyers are importers, sawmills and marine and civil contractors across the United States. Many have ordered from us for years, because what arrives matches the packing list.

We only offer what we can supply. If a species or size isn't available this season, we'll tell you when you ask, not after you've placed the order.

How we work

What you can hold us to

No certifications we don't hold, no sizes we don't cut.

  • Legal origin. GFC-licensed, with every log and piece tagged and recorded in Guyana's Wood Tracking System.
  • Graded before loading. Each piece checked in our yard; the tally goes with the container.
  • Plant health. Phytosanitary certificate with every shipment, fumigation where US import rules require it.
  • Drying on request. Kiln drying for lumber and smaller sections.
  • Clear terms. Payment, Incoterms (FOB or CIF) and delivery window agreed in writing before we prepare your order.
  • Straight answers. A reply within one business day, Guyana time.
